I use HardiBoard which is available at building supply stores.  It even 
looks much like the original asbestos.  It is very hard to cut (ruined a lot 
of saber saw blades).  Finally got smart and asked the store what to use and 
they sold me a special blade for my skill saw.  Cuts like a knife in hot 
butter.  Once you make all the straight cuts, you can finish w/ the saber 
saw.
