You're right and I've gotten similar symptoms with my BJ8 while
sitting in traffic on a really hot day once.  This type of occurance
is pretty unusual (I've only gotten it once in 20 years of owning my
BJ8) and if your car is properly set up it shouldn't happen.  However,
BN1s and BN2s can get this symptom because the carb heat shield is
pretty useless.

That being said... the #1 suspect for vapor lock (95% of the time) on
a BN1 or BN2 is the fuel pump over the exhaust.
