To quote the SU factory service manual , " DO NOT mount the pump in a 
position exposed too close to direct heat radiation from exhaust manifold , etc

page 63 in my Tech Talk book ... l fitted my 100/4 fuel pump just in front of 
the horns , see page 135 OR Austin Healey Magazine , April - May 1995 ...Heat 
shield . l made one for my 100/4 see a scale drawing of it on page 219 OR 
Healey Marque Magazine April 2002 ... lf you have a vapor lock in the fuel pump 
the pump will run   VERY FAST and you would have very little power , because 
fuel mixed with vapor are going into the float bowl .... Norman Nock
