Quite a number of years ago here in the UK almost everyone who was involved
with the BMC product range received certain "demands" from a group of
parasite lawyers who demanded that we inform them by a certain date that we
accepted their licensing proposals and agreed to pay extortionate sums for
the privilege to their use.
This in the main was the same time as BMW were involved with the arrangement
with Rover/MG, one MG dealer that I knew who marketed MG spares told me that
they demanded up to 2000 GB pounds for every MG sign that he
displayed...............he told them "nuts" ,... shut the door,.... paid
off his staff,..... sold the building ......and went to live in the Sun
somewhere.
This was also the same time that Steve Norton changed his name from Midland
Healey to Cape International.
I had an approach from lawyers acting for the Healey family who also had a
desire for royalties for the use of trade marks.
My legal advisor checked this out and the items that were listed and
registered with Geoff Healey were the wings design and also a Company listed
as the," Froogie Company" [ this should be Frogeye Company but it had been
misspelt upon the official document].
About this time the use of the name Elvis Presley was being contested and
the ruling handed down was that the name belonged to everyone, here in the
UK we even have a Rugby player that is called.....Austin
Healey.....................who exactly would he pay royalties to?.

Do you boys and girls remember me telling you some time ago that greed is
alive and well in the UK?.
Myself if I were really hassled again I would not hesitate to Bugger off
also and seek the Sun somewhere and depart the Socialist Republics of Great
Britain. My whole workshop complex would make ideal retirement units for
about 80 retired people, then there would be 100% of nothing.
Regards.
David.
