    Inquiring minds would like to know where you got the lift for $1785.

I also agree that cement blocks are an accident waiting to happen, I am 
older and somewhat smarter now and wouldn't chance them. 

Ned, I have built blocks to raise the car up about 18",  I used 2 X 8 
boards and stacked them log cabin style (cribbing) I nailed each pair at 
the corners with 16d. nails for each course.  The wood is in compression 
and I imagine it could hold many tons of weight.  The tire sits in  the 
middle and there is no chance for the wheel to roll out.
