Bruce,
I would have to completely agree with John Snyder. Your car has a different 
feed to the flashing lamps than Steve's later BJ8. The problem will be with 
slightly dirty or poorly gapped contacts in the 8 terminal relay box mounted 
on the left inner wheel arch.
