FWIW regarding oil visible in the radiator: Remember that a tiny tiny
amount of oil looks like a lot when its on top of water. Sure could be from
the rebuild. Can flush cooling system as the NAPA guy said but e-a-s-y with
the Cascade ! Others may have ideas about an appropriate flush.
Keep close eye on dip stick too.

Frankly, no. My guess is that oil got into the water jacket during the
rebore. Anyway I hope that is the problem.
The block and the head were tested for cracks and none were found. I guess I
could have put the head gasket in wrong. There was no "This side up" label
and I flipped it over several times and could see no differences but I could
have missed something.

Did they explain why? Oil and cooling systems are entirely
independent--with the (theoretical)
exception of oil coolers, I guess--and I can't think of a reason why
you'd have oil in the coolant
(unless there was some residual machining oil in the coolant passages,
maybe). I didn't have any
oil in the water after my last rebuild, but we didn't bore the cylinders.
