Problem is the ONLY thing the DPO had done on the car (which was in need of
total restoration) in 22 years was to recondition the brake cylinders and
master cylinder (oh, he also bought a new front bumper and the little MG
badges that go on the hub caps). So I don't know what the seals are - or
even how old they are. So having just finished the piping last night I am
now thinking I should change all the seals - a fairly inexpensive but time
consuming operation. Bugger.

There is some truth in the lack of compatibility of some rubbers and
silicone fluid. I have silicone in my MGTD and in my Jag EType and both were
done some 12yrs ago with no problems. I have not heard of anyone who has had
a problem.
However I was at a restoration show about a year ago and I saw some
replacement rubber seals on a stand for sale with a label attached saying
not suitable for use with silicone brake fluid.
If in doubt you should ask your supplier.
