Hi all,

I'd been having problems with intermittant fuse failures and until tonight I
had been unable to track it down. Also at the same time been experiencing
weirdness with what I thought was the ignition. The car would suddenly hit a
brick wall, pop if you like, then settle again. A misfire really. I went
through the ignition system, changed the plugs, cleaned up the contacts in
the distributor cap etc, seemed to work all right again (of course just to
confuse me further <G>).

Tonight the problem came back. Sure enough driving down the road she
misfired a couple of times, then all of a sudden smoke filled the interior.
Pulled over switched off and exited stage left quick smart! Basically I
found that the Facet Silver Top fuel pump I'd been using must have had an
internal failure as the hot wire to it had burnt out from _inside_ the pump
body. I'm glad there was no leaking fuel around at the time otherwise I
wouldn't be here to type this email!!!!! AA to the rescue.

So.. Anyone got any horror stories with Facet fuel pumps? Can someone
recommend an alternative available in the UK that will do 6psi, preferably
without a regulator, and preferably not a bloody facet!!!

Cheers,
Neil
