I would like to start off by thanking the regular contributors to this
forum. The information I have accumulated from reading the posts over the
past few week has been invaluable in addressing a number of problems I
have encountered relating to the '69 Midget I use as a daily driver.

Secondly, as the car is used on a daily basis, I am considering the
installation of a radio cassette (not that the exhaust isn't music to my
ears) in order to make the longer trips to university or weekends away,
even more pleasurable. As the car is, there is no sign of any previous
radio etc and therefore no previous mounting points or aerial holes in
the bodywork. I would really like to place the radio under the centre of
the dash behind the gear lever to save reaching for the unit in the
passenger footwell. However, there is not a great deal of space to work
with in this area and I am concerned about the unit sticking out too far
and affecting gear changes (and my knuckles!!!)

I am also concerned about security and have considered installing a
centre console to house the unit but there doesn't seem to be much
available as the consoles from an MGB look large and out of place in a
Midget. I would love any feedback people have on a "from scratch"
radio/cassette installation in a Midget including aerial positioning,
security, consoles, front speaker size and positioning etc.

I am also considering the aerials which run along the edge of the
windscreen as a wire to save cutting a hole in the bodywork. Has any body
used these aerials and if so are they worthwhile?

Thankyou
