First time I changed my rear springs, I took everything apart, had the rear
axle out on the ground. The second time (10 yrs later) I just did one side
at a time and let the rear axle hang from the rubber rebound straps - it
was pretty easy.

I had to do a bit of filing to get the Spax conversion lower mount to allow
the U-bolts to go through. And be sure to check the tightness of these
fasteners frequently as they settle in over time.

On another subject, it looks like this will be the first winter in many
that I won't be driving my unrestored '70B-GT, after I park my restored
'66, this when the road salt comes down. The sills are all but gone,
showing wide glimpses of running gear under the car. I'm beginning to be
less than confident in its ability to keep itself together under normal
road conditions, let alone some sort of emergency. (But it still turns
heads, freshly waxed and chrome polished!) Instead there's an old (not old
enough to be fun) Chevy pick-up to drive to work :(
