Jay:
If the configuration is like my '73 Midget, the propeller shaft will slide
out the rear, complete with front U-joint after you remove the bolts from
the rear U-joint. Getting this back in is fun, since it's hard to line up
the female splines on the propeller shaft forward of the front U-joint with
the male splines on the back of the tranny. I made it easier by cutting a
hole in the bottom pan under the front U-joint and making a cover plate for
this hole. It certainly makes greasing the front U-joint easier.
The tranny is supported by four bolts: two long ones go in vertically from
the bottom. two short ones go in horizontally, one on each side of the
tunnel in the cockpit.
