Well, there's nothing left for the rubber seal to seal against.  The
next thing that will happen is for the BMC early warning system to kick
in.  The dammned valve leaks down into the distibutor just before it
falls apart, so that you will know something's wrong.

We've gone to a 195 thermostat, but the improvement was marginal.  There
simply isn't enough water, or heater core area, to transfer enough heat
into the driving area.  You are faced with the old choice: either you
get warm toes, or you get to see out of the windscreen; but NOT both!!
