Sounds like the alternator is gone. The fact that it won't idle is
probably that the battery is almost dead (which explains the need to jump
it)and with no or little power from the alternator the car dies. The Moss
catalog has instructions for the alternator, the old style they say is not
available. Any parts store will have one and can check yours in or out of
the car.Be careful how you use the charger if you use a quick charge too
often you will fry the battery.
