Just bought a 79 midget with USA specs. Am dismantling for minor body work
and paint, rubber replacement, new carpet and such. Have a few questions:
Is it normal to have to remove bonnet to remove battery?
Second question is about wing vent assembly removal. I have followed Haynes
instructions, but assembly will not lift out. The window channel binds on
the window glass. I don't want to force it, but see no other way. Anyone
done this within memory?
Final question......Starter in car only clicks. Out of the car jumper cabled
to battery does nothing until I thump the starter with my fist. Then starter
spins, but seems to have occasional dead spot or stumble. Starter looks like
it has been freshly rebuilt. Everything is clean with very little copper
dust inside. I have an old Moss catologue. It appears that a new or rebuilt
one is not available. I am attempting to restore a push start car?
