I can't be definitive about it, but I'd say yes.  I have a '67 B - 5 main 
bearings, and a '58 A that has a 3 bearing B engine.  The A's engine seems 
to rev a lot more freely in the upper range.  

I can't be definitive because the two cars are geared differently (as well 
they should be), and it should enable the A's engine to be used more in the 
upper range.
