When speaking to a lbc mechanic and B owner about just this
subject earlier this week, I was told to use either a light
film of vasoline or engine oil on my wire wheel hubs. He
claimed anything heavier attracted dirt and dust, which in
turn wicks moister into the hub which will eventually lead
to rusting. I figure I'll give it a try for a while and see
how it goes, I'd been using regular lithium grease in there
before, and it does tend to pull the dirt in.
