strip, sand, or leave

Thanks for the replies on my question of last (stripping wax). It made
me think of stripping the entire finish (or as close as possible) I have
done alot of furniture with good success is this a reasonable jump? Is
there a section on the web that covers that? what are some opinions on
chem vs sanding. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
