Yeah, in the 3 (?) times I had the motor out, I've always just slung the
chain at what seemed a reasonable angle, and let my hefty assistant lean
on the tranny if needed for adjustment. I appreciate the advice about
raising the rear of the car that has been posted recently; I always
raised the front (for access underneath). This makes the required angle
steeper and may exceed the total lift of the hoist.
But then, I'd never heard of these adjustable tilt devices, either.
