I can't remember the original problem? Was it after run, knok, or
detonation.

Mixture lean?

Foaming of fuel in the float bowls due to vibration?  This was
the twin cams problem and it only occurred at cruising speed
because of resonance.  Racers never had as much a problem as the
engines never operated at a steady state in that RPM range. Those
that used Webers seemed to never have the problem.

Too much ignition advance?  Did you check the distributor on a
machine?

Sharp edges in combustion chamber?  Valve rims, spark plug
threads, high ridge, etc.

All of these can be cured by...................Split fire!!!!!! 
No just kidding.

What about a surface gap plug?  If you've got clean plugs,
perhaps these won't carbon up and they eliminate the ground
electrode sticking out into the combustion chamber.  I have never
tried them, though.

Not much fun getting dumped on is it.  Especially when the thread
has changed its topic which you had nothing to do with.
