Running straight avgas will not burn pistons, valves or anything else.

The only differences are higher octane, cleaner burning and more $$.

It is possibly a little harder to start in cold conditions but in our
climate
(Australia), this hasn't ever been an issue for me!

Here it is not legal to use it on the road.
