I wouldn't recommend trying to rebuild them yourself. You will have
difficulty disassembling them, changing the "stuff" (technical term) inside
and getting them back together. You can remove them, drain them (BUT DON'T
TURN THEM OVER), clean them up, paint them dayglo orange (HAH!), and refill
them. Complete directions can be found in the list archives.

If, after you refill them, they operate smoothly on the bench, there is no
need to have them rebuilt. If they provide smooth resistance thru the entire
range of motion of the lever arm, they are fine. Reinstall and take it out
for a spin.
