I believe each time a stud is torqued it is stretched to a certain
spec and that if one is over torqued it doesn't return to its original
length and becomes much weaker.
I've always heard and read that studs (especially head studs) can often
only be identified as 'bad' by mikeing them and then it's questionable
if they've been used.
I replaced mine with ARP when I redid my 1500 engine and even though it
isn't cheap, it sure is a good feeling to know they're new and good.
Kind of like an oil pump.
   Are these incorrect ideas?
