FWIW I pondered the same when I restored my roadster.  I didn't wan't to
muck up a leather set in my first foray into seat recovering, neither did I
fancy vinyl in a summer car.  I opted for the GT seat covers which for my
year were cloth-faced with vinyl sides and back.
