Definitely do not paint it flat black. The engine compartment should be
painted with the same paint as the body. I did mine with a brush and
noone can tell. It looks like it was sprayed the same time as the body.
The only sheet metal that is not body color is the vertical panel below
the heater shelf. It's black, like the frame.
