Soda Blast, Soda Blast, Soda Blast!!!  I've seen this stuff, it's great!
Media (plastic granules) blasting is okay... but won't remove rust.  Soda
blasting does the whole lot and doesn't do anything to the surface of the
metal like harsher abrasives (glass and sand).  Soda blasting is so gentle
it can be used to strip paint off of fibreglass without damaging the gel
coat (the way to go if you've got a TVR that need refinishing...).

Admittingly, soda blasting isn't going to remove extensive rust... the
harsher stuff is needed.

Oh and this is soda as in regular baking soda, but the industrial variant.

Residue is water soluble too!  (and if residue is left on it gives some
surface rust protection versus bare metal)
