Looks like the gauge, I know that one isn't cheap....

How can I tell.  The cap on the car says

WARNING!  FUEL SPRAY MAY CAUSE INJURY - REMOVE SLOWLY

If cap says the tank could built pressure, do I have the wrong cap?  Can 
something as simple as that cause the car to stall?
