Here in Denver Co, it is pretty common to get a 10% ethanal 90% gas
mixture. During the winter months it was required, though I think that
has lapsed in 2000, they still sold it this year.
Short story, 10% hasn't hurt my cars, and I wasn't given a choice. E85
would be bad to use.
E85 is corrosive, so putting that in a steel tank/lines will destroy
them. You might be able to retrofit, (we might all want to learn about
that eventually!) They mix it at 100 octane IIRC. Would be nice for
that supercharger project we would all like to do, if it wouldn't ruin
it that is!
New US built SUVs are built to take either E85 or unleaded.
