Fellow listers,

Don't despair, there is a newer better theory on uncertainty and probability
by Stephen Hawkin.  His theory is about black holes "with hair".  The theory
being that even though matter disappears into a black hole there is that
very small probability that somewhere, sometime it may appear again.  Those
missing socks may show up before you lost them.
