hello list,

background: noticed that the clutch was beginning to engage when the pedal had
raised a half inch, or less, from the floor...knowledgeable friend said brake
bleeding was needed...we bled the brakes and afterwards the clutch is engaged
with the pedal full on the floor (in other words--if you start in neutral, then
press
in the clutch, its not possible to put the trans into any gear...but, you can
hear
the gears clashing)..

lots of head scratching and looking around it was found that there were THREE
floor mats between the pedal and the firewall..
two were removed, clutch bled one more time and STILL the clutch is engaged
with the pedal hard on the floor..

when looking at the slave, it IS moving *about* a half inch when the pedal is
pressed down (i read here, a few days ago to expect *about* a half inch
movement)..

i about to order a seal kit for the master AND the slave, and a flex hose..
OR, anyone have any other ideas??

in other words, is *about* a half inch at the slave all that is needed---if so,
might
there be some mechanical failure that would allow the clutch to still be
engaged
EVEN if the slave is moving the proper amount???

is there a way to test to make sure (i don't mind rebuilding the cylinders for
no
good reason---but, i don't need to do that to then have to pull the engine to
get to
the problem (WHILE the sunshines in Denmark--sigh!)

and, last: should i replace the master's return spring while i'm ordering?
so, 1) seal kitS, 2) flex hose, 3) return spring--maybe, 4) anything else??

thanks for all your thoughts,
