THAT did NOT happen here. As a computer person myself, that has tried to
help other listers on occasion too, I've been following this thread very
closely.
There was NO wrath of the group. In fact, what I've witnessed here is that
quite the opposite actually has occurred. Everybody else that I've seen
posting a comment on this subject has been really supportive of Greg and his
right to help "on-list". I think that this list has a lot of great people on
it, with an occasional "List Policeman" (or a weirdo) that likes to keep the
pot stirring, as most lists have.
Greg said that only one "to use his word, "elitist" complained directly to
him. I've seen that the list has been quite supportive otherwise. ALL of the
other posts that I've also seen on this topic have been in full support of
Greg and his and our right to occasionally go off topic with regular listers
for help and in support of their computing or even other needs, of course
with the caveat of a statement, "Non-LBC content" being appropriate.
It seems that the "List Police" strike the hardest when one person, the
"helper", is trying to help another person, the "helped", and the "helper"
gets bit for being a nice guy to the "helped"!
Not right. Shouldn't happen.
Watch out for the List Police!! They bite! - or is that "suck", I get
confused. ;<)
