Just read my post and thought I would clarify.

Definitely take out the POS original sealed beam units.

Replace them with regular H4 (i think they are 55/60 watt) HIGH QUALITY
headlamp units. LOTS OF EMPHASIS ON QUALITY*. Don't go with higher output
bulbs than the standard H4.

The electrical system in the car can handle the standard H4 without any
problem. The weak spot in the system is the High/Low beam switch contacts
which get dirty, corrode, heat up then melt the plastic.

Installing a relay prevents this problem and if done correctly is simple and
cheap but it is not essential if you stick to standard H4 and don't get tempted
by the hot rodded 100w ones.

* Quality: Name brand such as Bosch, Hella, Cibie, SevMarchal, Wipac, Lucas.
Moss sells the Wipac made in England ones, and they are a very nice unit so use
those as a price comparison.

Kelvin. It's getting late and it's time to go home.
