Cingular Wireless - OT

I just got word that AT&T will be selling its wireless division, sounds like
it will be to Cingular.  Does anyone have any experience, good or bad, with
their GSM network.  I'm especially interested in coverage since cross country
travel is a regular occurrence for myself and my dad especially.  We want to
find coverage that is as complete as AT&Ts TDMA network.  I know TDMA is a
dead duck, but we only want to change carriers once.
