Not a good idea, at least not without first removing the outer
electrical cover.

Yes. Just don't flood it inside.

One paragraph? Inside there is a flat metal diaphragm, an electrical
magnetic coil, and normally closed contact points. When energized
the electromagnet pulls the diaphragm out of plane, which also breaks
the electrical contact. The magnetism then stops, and the diaphragm
springs back to original position, once again making the electrical
contact. This cycle repeats at a high frequency while the diaphragm
creates strong acustical pulses in the air, which is where the sound
originates.

Only as a last resort.

Drill out rivets.

Reassemble with new rivets or machine screws and new paper gaskets.

It may help to know what you're doing, so you may not need to
disasemble it. See here: http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/electric/et109.htm
