I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago at REI.  I am very happy with it.  
(When I took out the old lamp,
I noticed that it had darkened quite a bit and was emitting maybe 50% of its 
original output.)

If you get one, watch out for one thing:  It is obviously polarized, and if you 
install backwards it does not
work.  But if you leave it backwards for any length of time with the power on, 
a component on the little circuit
board (an inductor, I think) gets real hot.  So when you install it, do so 
without the batteries in place, and
power it up for just a second or so to see if the polarity is correct.
