Glenn,
Yes, you can change the valve springs without removing the head. First, get
an attachment for your compressor that will thread into the spark plug hole
(most good auto parts stores have them). While you're there, pick up a
valve spring tool, the kind that uses the rocker pedestal as the fulcrum, or
the kind that attaches to the top and bottom of the spring. Use new valve
keepers also. Make sure the cylinder you are working on is at TDC. Take
the spark plug out, connect the air hose, put some air pressure against the
valve, and replace the spring. It is that easy!
