Well, now you've done it.. I'll be on a quest for a matching oil filter
now! (Like this detailing thing hasn't gone *WAY* too far already..)

Whenever the subject of oil filters comes up I become re-inspired to put
up an Oil Filter Comparison web page, with cutaways of all of the more
common brands.. Back in a former life (Pre-Network Designer Days, a
dark era indeed!) I had a brief and glorious career in wholesale auto
parts, during which I had a chance to study such matters in depth. The
result of such studies (back in the 80's at least) was that Wix brand
(Made by the Dana Corp) pretty much kicked all other filters asses. A
remarkably overbuilt piece. Where other brands used a bent piece of
sheetmetal for a pressure relief (sort of a butterfly looking stamping)
Wix's had this thing that looked like a valve spring from my Scout!
Other filters had their filter media folded and stapled, Wix had this
elaborate metal end cap that locked the ends in place. Really amazing
filters, if you can find them. \

Anyway, I'll get cracking on that web page. I'll post a url as soon as
it's done. (My little bit of public service.)
