I changed to 165/13 tires on my stock '79 Spitfire back in 1981 and have
regretted it ever since. If the road has the slightest dip or bump in
it the tires scrape against the body. Why am I still regretting it,
well those Michelin ZX tires just seem to keep "going and going and
going". Like the energizer bunny they won't wear out! However, the
rubber is getting dry and starting to crack so they will be replaced
with 155/13s during the restoration of my car. I guess I got my money's
worth out of them over the past 18 years!

Did you have any tyre clearance problems at the rear with the longer axles?
I'm
wondering if the change to the square-tail body included some provision for
additional wheel clearance. I'd rather not have to mess with the wheel wells
if
possible.
