Makes no difference where you put the resistor, the coil will see the
same voltage across its terminals.  Due to the inductance of the coil
primary, the actual voltage will vary from 13.5 (when the module first
turns on the coil current) to something more than 7.5 (when the module
initiates a spark by interrupting the primary current) or even 7.5
when the engine isn't turning.
