i had reaad somewhere that the early tr4-a's sold in the us were
fitted with the solid axle because either the dealer's or triumph
thought that the buyers wouldn't want to pay the extra amout it
costed to supply the car with irs.  i also remember reading that the
frame for the irs cars will accept a solid axle because of this.
