And, as long as everybody's looking at that brace, what are those two flat
plates for (2" square with threaded hole) about 12" inboard of the spur
brace on each side?

Subject: under-bonnet brace

Hi List,

I have a '78 Spit that I'm trying desperately to get running again (but
that's too long of a story for here and now). I was on this list a couple
of years ago and got some great assistance from various listers - it's just
that my time and commitments got in the way of that assistance paying off.

But my real question now is about the under-bonnet bracing. A PO put the
wrong size battery in the car and the curved brace got all corroded (one of
the battery posts actually *hit* the brace), and despite my best efforts to
kill the corrosion, it keeps coming back. So I think it's time to "replace
the brace". Here's what I need: In the TRF catalog (only one I have here
at work) with the yellow Spit on the cover (a bit old, I know, but
again...), page 53 lower right panel, p/n XKC2677. It doesn't show up in
the (old) price list I have here, so I assume it's NLA. Anyone got a spare
or a source? Price?

Thanks,

George P.
