I'm trying to install a new Weber DGV carburetor in my 80 Spitfire, and it
seems to be growing into an ever-larger project. At this point I'm feeling
totally incompetent! (I am not very experienced at this sort of thing, so
this evaluation is really not far off.)

I'm still in the "disassembly" pre-phase. Part of the process involves
replacing the intake manifold ... but I cannot get the old one removed. In
looking through the list archives, it appears that I may or may not need
also to remove the exhaust manifold and possibly even the engine head.

For now, I have removed what I thought were all of the intake manifold
bolts, but there are two practically inaccessible ones under the intake
manifold that are completely frustrating me. These seem to hold both
manifolds; is that right? And is getting better access to these bolts a
reason to remove the head and take the whole intake/exhaust/head assembly
off the engine for further separation? Do I _have_ to?

I feel I must be missing some trick, and I'm sure lots of you folks have
done this with far greater ease than I'm experiencing in my lame attempt.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated!!

Paul

P.S. Anticipate further idiotic questions as I move through this
over-my-head project!
