a little off topic, but if anyone is looking for a square tail spit left
window, I have one to get rid of. The previous owner had installed it on my
70 MK3, and I now have the correct glass for the car. The only difference
between the 2 pieces of glass seems to that the rear corner is square on the
MK4 glass and round on the MK3.

I can't address the square tail round tail, but I've done a square tail GT6
glass conversion on a square tail Spitfire before.

For specific reasons, I removed the glass from the GT6 door, and installed
it in the Spitfire door. Everything lined up fine, no gaps or clearances
with the Spitfire top.

Fyi, there is a slight difference between a GT6 door and a Spitfire door.
Under the vent window of a GT6 there is a solid piece going across joining
the outer skin to the frame. Presumably this would help support the vent
when twisting it open. Mounted in the Spitfire door, there was some
twisting visible when opening the vent. This also prevents installing
Spitfire windows in a squaretail GT6 door, unless you cut that piece out.

Next time, I'd swap the entire door, not simply the glass.

"Someone want to tell me if I'm going to have a
problem
using roundtail GT6 doors on a squaretail spitfire
tub? I've got the doors in storage or I'd stick one
on myself to be sure. Will the tops of the vent wings
line up with the windshield frame? How about the
height of the door glass, will it mate up with a
squaretail's hood when closed."

Well, it's like this. The windshield frame is no
problem. The extra 2" of depth was added to the
bottom at the cowl. That is why square tails have a
welded on windshield frame.

The side glass on the doors is another issue. The GT
had a sloping roof and the side glass is not as tall
in the rear as the spit's.

Now Hot rodders manage to get tempered glass made for
their chop tops. Maybe you can take the Spit side
glass and have it cut to fit with the GT vent windows.
 That would be unique.

Mk3/ Mk2 GT side glass makes no difference.

Good luck.
