I split mine because of a very badly siezed pair of pistons, and just
re-used the 'o' ring when I reassembled them - this is about 15,000 miles
ago.  As for torque, I just tightened them up to "Ungh".  I was going to
toghten them to "Arrrrgh!!" but I figured I was pushing my luck anyway.
