Larry,

I don't know the answer to this one, but I'd be grateful if you'd let me
know when you find out!

What country are you in? There are a number of dealers for Spitfire parts
in the UK and USA, I can recommend UK ones and someone else I'm sure will be
glad to recommend USA ones, all will supply a choice of aftermarket steering
wheels in a range of styles and sizes.

Original style wheels are no longer available, so if you want to stay
original you will have to buy second-hand. The reason I want to know how to
remove the wheel is because, when I went to buy a windscreen frame off a
scrap car from my friendly local Triumph specialist, they simply cut right
across the bulkhead half-way up, so I have an entire dash set-up, including
steering wheel and upper column, surplus to my requirements. If you are in
the UK, I'll happily sell you my spare steering wheel for a nominal fee plus
postage.

Best wishes,

Richard (& Daffy)
