I suppose it depends a lot on the type of parts dealers and the laws of the 
area.
Around here, if a parts guy (junk yard) buys it, the car can never be sold 
complete
and will never be restored, many of the parts are illegal to sell, and the car 
will
shortly be run over with a bull dozer and crushed for scrap metal.

Personally, I would rather have a parts car bought up by a parts dealer
than continue sitting in someone's back yard until it rusts away
to total uselessness.
