Trying to remove the handbrake cable, the rear portion of it. The cable
is
wrapped around a '90 deg. 'slider' on each side of the car, and I cannot
get
the threaded part of the cable through because it doesn't bend.

Hi Paul,

I just did this recently on my Spitfire Mk3 chassis - same as you, body
off. Couldn't figure it at first - how do you get it out? Eventually
worked out that the best way to do it is to push some cable through from
the opposite end to the threaded end so that you only have to remove it
from one end of the curve at a time.

Hard to explain clearly without pictures but. Let me try another tack.
With the threaded end just about engaged in the slider (closest to
brake) grab the cable that is feeding into the end of the slider closest
to the front of the car and push the cable towards the rear of the
chassis while pushing the threaded end through the slider. This should
make the threaded end go in squarer (parallel to the half shafts) and
allow it to clear the enclosed part of the slider closest to the brakes.
Once it is clear there, you can easily slide it through the second
enclosed part of the slider.

If that's still clear as mud, send me an email and I can duck out to the
carport at some point and take some photos.

Cheers,
Todd Wilson
