Make sure it is the compression stroke and not the exhaust stroke!
Place your finger over the spark plug home and turn the engine until
you feel the compression. Then you can use a screwdriver if you wish.

It doesn't really matter which post was the right one as you can
install the dizzy 180 degrees out. So with TDC compression on
# 1 cylinder, look at where the rotor is pointing. That is the post for #1.
Then go 1-3-4-2 in the usual way.
