On our '71 B there's a metal clip with a raised area snapped on the steering
column.  With the steering wheel in the straight ahead position, the raised
area of this clip is centered in the yoke of the turn signal switch
assembly, pointing due left.  I haven't looked at the Midget yet, but maybe
it's similar to the 'B'.  Maybe yours is rotated out of position, or
missing?
