Mini mania has the Power Tune 1275 book on sale for 21.95 or they did- they are
somewhat negotiable on expired specials- especially if you say I won't buy for
any other price.

Hal and Geoff,
That's the one I mean.

I have read both. Neither one can really replace the other.
Des Hammill's book is a little more practical in that is gives the first
time engine builder good advice of how to proceed, which mods to make to
the parts etc. It also has nice pictures of everything, which help a lot
if you haven't done this before.
I am a little suspicous of the cylinder head sections because it seems
that Des goes for bigger-is-better on the ports and never mentions that
for some street engine that may not be what you want.
I would definitely buy this book, especially since it is cheap.

If you are going to build a 1275, not a 1380, it has great advice except
for the camshaft section, he only treats factory cams.
He advises to stay away from 1380cc motors.
